It's spring break this week, and although I didn't plan to spend so much time on projects, the first few days have turned out that way.
I finally finished painting this dresser:
I used Annie Sloan Chalk Paint's French Linen on the outside, and the drawer fronts are Sherwin Williams Creamy. The hardware was purchased at a local hardware store. I hated to spend money on eight drawer pulls, but I knew it would be worth it on this piece.
And it was.

I don't know what it is about this style of furniture, but I'm drawn to the "Jetson" legs, modern vibe, and vintage look of this era. I have a nightstand in the same style.
Love how distressed this is....and the number 62 is just really cool.
I'm planning to sell the dresser as I really don't have a place for it right now, but if it doesn't sell, we may just find a place. I really like it.
Mr. Wonderful has had four days off this week as well, so we decided to tackle mounting our fireplace surround in the sitting room. Although I am thrilled to finally get this done, it's taking WAAAY longer than we thought.
Which, as any DIYer can tell you, is not unusual.
I spotted this wooden surround about a year and a half ago in a thrift store. It's been leaning against that wall ever since. We've stared at it many times, trying to figure out how to mount it to the wall while also raising it about 6 inches off the floor.
See those wood boxes underneath the legs? I think Mr. Wonderful has solved the problem.
Today we've been sanding, priming and painting all the pieces white so we can attach everything together, caulk all the seams, put on another coat of paint, and get 'ir done.
And then: the fun part. I get to style my very first mantle. EVER.
I get downright giddy thinking about it :)
