Mom's Buffet

Mom called me over the weekend wondering why she couldn't find a picture of her buffet on my blog.

"Haven't you put a picture of it on there yet?  I'm headed to Momma's in April and I really want her to see it!"

Mom doesn't visit my blog very often (computer things are still a bit overwhelming), but when she does visit she's always looking for something specific.  Mom's flying to Phoenix April 12th, still three weeks from now; however, I will admit her buffet certainly deserves a place of honor here today because it truly is a pretty piece.

Here are a few teaser shots:

And here it sits in her family room~

Mom is currently using thid piece as a media console, thus the equipment on top.  Doesn't make for the prettiest shots, but that's real life, folks.

Here is a before picture:

I distressed this one pretty heavily to bring out all the grid-work detail in the doors, the floral carvings, and the thick mouldings around the drawers.  The construction on this piece was exceptional, making it one of the higher quality buffets on which I've worked.

The water damage on top was pretty bad, though, so painting it was the right thing to do.  But of course I would say that :)

So there you go, Mom ~ and Grandmother GG in Phoenix :)  Enjoy your warm sunshine together April 12th ~
