Bamboo Table

I had a few minutes before lunch today to paint a little bamboo table I found at a garage sale.

I brought it upstairs into our main living space and painted the whole thing in about twenty minutes.  My son Isaac snapped a few pictures when I remembered I didn't have any Before shots.

As we all know, everyone likes Before shots.

Isaac and I agreed we really liked the original deep green color of the table, but it was chipped and the top was damaged from some type of goo.  I decided to paint it a gray tone to tie in with my recently painted shutters (I used leftover Valspar's Beige Shadow which is close to ASCP's French Linen).  Since this is a table I plan to keep, there are no guarantees I won't change my mind later on the color~

The table is still in what Miss Mustard Seed calls the "ugly stage." Kinda chalky, and with only one coat of paint, it looks unfinished. I plan to distress it only a little, then use Annie Sloan Clear wax (with a little dark mixed in) to give it some dimension and bring out the details.

I've been watching for a bamboo table for awhile now and was tickled to find this one.  I'll post more pictures once it's finished.

Our first baseball practice of the season starts tonight, then off to dinner to celebrate my sister Stephanie's birthday.

This girl.

She and I go way....way....way....back.  I wouldn't trade one second of Barbies, ponies, late summer night movies, dance routines, Dolly Parton sing-alongs, pontoon sunbathing, rock forts, and three-wheeler catastrophes for the entire world.

She will always be a special part of the woman I am today, and I love her deeply.
